Day 1 – Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Tizi n’Tachte – Tiziane
Departure from Marrakech early in the morning toward the High Atlas Mountains. The drive passes through the Moulay Brahim Gorge and scenic upper valleys, reaching the trailhead at Imi Oughlad (1450m). Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Toubkal (4167m), the highest peak in North Africa, as well as Aglzim (3650m) and Aksoual (3884m).

Meet the Berber mule team and begin a gentle 2-hour acclimatization hike on zigzag mule trails through cornfields, pine forests, and juniper trees to Tizi n’Tachte (2000m). From here, admire panoramic views over the Imlil and Ait Ouazaden valleys.

Continue with a short transfer to Imi n’Ifri for a picnic lunch, then trek slowly for about 2.5 hours along a dirt road to the red-clay terraced villages of Assif n’Ait Ouazaden and Tiziane (1750m). Overnight in traditional Berber guesthouses.
Day 2 – Tiziane – Tizi n’Taghourte – D’knt
After breakfast, begin hiking along the Assif n’Ait Ouazaden valley, passing walnut groves and traditional farmland. Ascend gradually to Tizi n’Taghourte (1995m above sea level), followed by a rare flat section leading to the Assaka spring.

After around 2.5 hours of easy walking, stop for a peaceful picnic surrounded by complete mountain silence. In the afternoon, descend along the forest edge until reaching the Berber village of D’knt (1870m), also known as Agouns n’Assoul.

Dinner and overnight at a campsite near the village.
Day 3 – D’knt – Tizi n’Tagdalte – Tizi Oussem
Set off in the morning on a scenic 3-hour walk through walnut groves, corn, and barley fields. Along the way, encounter shepherds, women, and children carrying firewood and herbs, offering an authentic glimpse into Berber mountain life.

Cross the Tizi n’Tagdalte pass and descend through juniper forests to a small woodland spring where lunch is enjoyed. After resting, continue hiking uphill for about 3 hours along winding trails to reach a small river at the entrance of the Assif n’Ait Ouaszden valley.

Arrive at the village of Tizi Oussem (1850m), then continue to the summer settlement of Aazib Tamsoult for overnight camping.
Day 4 – Aazib Tamsoult – Tizi Aguelzim – Toubkal Refuge
After breakfast, hike east along a winding mule path, ascending steadily toward the Tizi Aguelzim pass at 3550 meters. Continue southeast for approximately 3 hours until reaching the Toubkal Refuge at 3207 meters above sea level, marking the snow line in spring.

Dinner and overnight in a mountain hut or bivouac near the refuge.
Day 5 – Toubkal Summit – Sidi Chamharouch – Imlil – Marrakech
Very early breakfast before starting a steep 3-hour ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m), the highest peak in the Maghreb. From the top, enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the Atlas Mountains and surrounding valleys.

Descend via the southern cirque back to the mountain hut for a picnic lunch. Continue north along a zigzag trail down the Assif n’Isouhouanem valley to the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, a pilgrimage site located beside a waterfall (non-Muslims may not enter the shrine).

After a further 2-hour descent, arrive in Imlil village, where transport is arranged back to Marrakech, marking the end of the trek.
